A couple weeks back at CES 2015, Fuji unveiled it a new X-Series lens – the Fuji XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR. It provides an equivalent field of view to a 24-84mm lens on a full frame camera, which sounds pretty great at f/2.8 all the way through.
It’s a weather-sealed lens with 14 sealing points and dust-proof design. It’s made to pair nicely with the weather-sealed Fuji X-T1.
Fuji XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens Key Features
- FUJIFILM X-Mount is compatible with all FUJIFILM interchangeable system cameras
- Weather-resistant design with 14 sealing points
- 0.06 seconds autofocus speed and nearly silent operation
- Uses 17 elements in 12 groups, including 3 aspherical lens elements to control spherical aberration and distortion, and 3 ED glass lens elements to reduce lateral and axial chromatic aberration
- Nano-GI coating alters the refractive index between glass and air to reduce ghosting and flare
- 9 blade aperture creates smooth and circular bokeh
- 1/3 EV steps
- Minimum working distance of less than 12 inches
The Fuji XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR lens retails for $1199.95 and should be available in February 2015. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

I think there’s a typo in your article: ” It provides an equivalent field of view to a 24-84mm lens on a full frame camera,” Do you mean 24-84mm on a crop-frame camera?
It’s good to finally see some decent (constant aperture) zoom lenses for mirrorless cameras. Now I might be more inclined to make the switch.

I think that sounds right…
I’m trying to say that the field of view looks like what a 24-84mm lens would look like on a full frame camera. Should I say that differently?

Sorry, your wording is actually correct, my brain was just misinterpreting (it was the first email I read when I woke up this morning) as a 16-55mm lens becoming 24-84mm on a full-frame body. Reading it a third time makes me realize I wasn’t quite awake the first time.
I think I’ll quietly delete my comment now….
Sorry again.
Eric Reagan says
Haha. No worries.
I’m often surprised at how bad my typos can be and was starting to worry that I’d whiffed on even a second look at it.

Dumb question – but I want to know.
Will Fuji X-mount lens fit a Sone A6000/A7000 camera.
I’m impressed by the lens, but more impressed with Sony’s 24MP camera…can I use them together?
Eric Reagan says
There may be an adapter out there somewhere, but it will not be combo that lets you take advantage of the features. Also, this is a crop-sensor lens and would vignette on a full frame camera.
It would a sub-optimal experience even if you did find an adapter. I would not recommend it.
