A couple of recently filed lens patents from Nikon include a new 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 lens and a 70-200mm f/4 VR lens.
Of course, the 11-27.5mm lens would be an update to the current Nikon 1 series kit lens.
The Nikon 70-200mm f/4G ED VR lens has been around for almost three years now. The optical formula presented in the recent patent application consists of 21 lens elements in four groups and accounts for a Vibration Reduction mechanism in the fourth element group. The patent was filed on February 8, 2015 and was published earlier this month on June 4th.

Lens patents for ordinary lenses like these are a little more predictive of future products than other types of camera-related patents. Of course, what we can’t predict from the patents is when we should expect to see a product released that is bases on a patent.
It’s logical to expect updates to both of these lenses and these patent applications may reveal release plans as sooner rather than later, but nothing is for certain. If you have heard something or have other info on either of these lens updates, please pass it along for the rest of us.
