I just got word from a reliable source that there will be no new Canon DSLRs announced in 2011. Bummer.
Note that this person hasn’t been flat out wrong before. A day or two off on dates on a couple of occasions, but never out of the ballpark, so I feel pretty comfortable with the accuracy this rumor. That said, this is still a rumor and should be taken as such.
No other real hints of what’s next – other than some recent patent applications for radio-synced camera bodies and TTL flashes with radio triggers. However, if Canon manages to get these two features in its next camera, I think it will be well worth the wait.
If you were holding off buying a 5D Mark II or 1D Mark IV, you’ll at least have several more months to wish for it. Or, maybe the delay will push you over the edge…

Hope they have great autofocus, and a great tablet based wireless viewfinder/remote too!

Thank God! One of the things I really hate about digital photography is the instant obsolescence built in. You can’t buy a camera without expecting a new model within 2 months. I used 35mm Nikon cameras for more than 20 years, shooting thousands of rolls of film. They didn’t become obsolete until no more parts were available.
