This week is CES 2018 in Las Vegas and there were several new photography products unveiled earlier this week. Below is a short overview and thoughts on some of the key gear.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR Lens
Nikon has announced a new supertelephoto lens featuring Nikon’s first built-in selectable 1.4X teleconverter. The 180-400mm f/4 lens provides a maximum reach to 560mm f/5.6 (840mm equivalent on a DX body) when the 1.4x teleconverter is engaged.
It’s a very impressive lens but it comes with a hefty price of $12,396.95 and ships in March. Check it out here at Adorama.
DJI Ronin-S
The DJI Ronin-S is a smaller, single-handed form factor of the larger Ronin models. It’s designed for smaller DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. No word yet on price or availability. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
DJI Osmo 2 Smartphone Gimbal
DJI also made an improved and more affordable version of the Osmo. The new Osmo 2 offers a 15 hour run time retails for $129. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Sony A6300 in Silver
Sony announced a silver version of the A6300, which is a pretty vanilla play for Sony. Historically though, Sony doesn’t really blow it out at CES for big photography news. Look for some big news from Sony pre-NAB in March or April. But maybe you’ve been chomping at the bit for a silver version of this camera. If so, check it out here at B&H Photo.
Godox AD600Pro Witstro All-In-One Outdoor Flash
Godox announced its new AD600Pro wireless flash with a built-in 2.4GHz trigger and is compatible with several TTL systems, including Canon E-TTL II, Nikon i-TTL, Sony, and Panasonic. The 600W/s flash offers power output ranging from full to 1/256th power. It runs $899. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Rokinon AF 14mm f/2.8 Lens for Canon
Rokinon’s new 14mm AF lens for Canon EF mount offers full frame coverage, along with a wide angle of view and bright aperture. Top it off with autofocus and you’ve got an enticing package for $799. It ships in February. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
G-Technology 2TB G-DRIVE R-Series USB 3.1 Type-C mobile SSD

Canon PIXMA G4210 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One Inkjet Printer
Canon jumps on the megatank bandwagon with an all-in-one printer. It uses integrated ink tank system that makes refilling much simpler and provides 6000 black or 7000 color prints on a single set of fresh ink bottles. It ships with a full set of inks as well as an extra pair of black ink bottles for getting another 12,000 black prints. The new G4210 All-In-One printer retails for $399. Panasonic HC-VX1 4K HD Camcorder
It offers 4K at 30p and HDR capture. The lens is 24x and it retails for $799. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
Panasonic HC-WXF1 4K UHD Camcorder
It offers 4K at 30/24p, along with HDR and a twin-camera / multicam mode. The WXF1 retails for $999. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Sony CCB-WD1 Wired Control Box for RX0
The CCB-WD1 connects to the RX0 and enables PC control with web browser via wired IP connection. You can use these to pair up to 100 RX0 cameras with these Camera Control Boxes. Additionally, a video sync function is also available, allowing frame timing to be synchronized between all connected cameras. The CCB-WD1 retails for $699 and will ship in February.
