At a pre-CES press event tonight, DJI unveiled its new Inspire 1 Mount, which is a handheld grip for the 4K camera and gimbal that are part of the DJI Inspire 1 quadcopter.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muHxrj6fFp0&w=700]As you can see in the above video, it does a good job of translating the DJI Inspire 1 gimbal to handheld operation. This really turns the Inspire 1 into a Movi for action-cams. Remember though, you’re stuck with the wide-angle of the Inspire 1’s 4K camera, unless DJI plans on releasing some lens accessories.
There is no word on pricing yet for the Inspire 1 mount; however, it should’t be too unreasonable given that the heavy lifting on the tech side is handled by the Inspire 1’s gimbal. My guesstimation is under $500, maybe even down around $200-$300…
