Really Right Stuff has unveiled its Mark 2 line of tripods. These carbon fiber tripods offer load capacities up to 50 lbs. and offer a number of thoughtful upgrades over the previous generation of tripods that date back to their 2009 release.
The integrated weight hook (comes installed on all TVC models) gives users an easy option for creating ballast when shooting in high-wind or waves. The tripods now include additional ¼”-20 sockets along the outside of the tripod’s apex for mounting accessories.
A newly designed twist-lock on the legs minimizes the amount of contaminants that gets caught inside the twist locks and improves overall handling and function. Additionally, disassembline and cleaning the twist-lock is easier. Three kinds of rubber feet are available: rubber feet, rock claws, and spike feet.
Other improvements include air vents to prevent pressure gradients from building up, allowing smoother leg extraction and collapse. Additionally, the Sure Grip set-screws now use the same hex key as the one used to attach RRS L-plates to cameras.
Really Right Stuff Mk2 Tripods start at $500. Check them all out here at B&H Photo.
