The Strobist movement continues to attract the attention of manufacturers. Westcott’s Magic Slipper allows photographers to use those speedlights with large softboxes without straining that fragile hot shoe. It even allows for mounting your Pocket Wizards so they don’t hang by the sync cable.
Pre-PMA Press Release
Professional Photographer and lighting guru Bruce Dorn has teamed up with Westcott yet again in adding to the Bruce Dorn Select product line the Magic Slipper™. This support system was created as a way to adapt your shoe-mount speedlite to a choice of professional grade light modifiers.
For use anywhere, at any time, the compact Magic Slipper™ allows you to utilize studio-quality light modifiers with breathtaking results from your speedlight. The foundation of the system is a precision-machined aluminum baseplate custom-designed to organize your shoe-mount Speedlite or Quantum Qflash to work with either radio or light-based wireless flash synchronization. The Magic Slipper™ is compatible with Canon, Nikon, Metz, Vivitar, and Sunpak shoe-mount speedlites along with Quantum’s Qflash series strobes. The Magic Slipper™ is light enough to use handheld or mounted on a compact light stand.
Also available are the Magic Slipper Location Kits™. The kits include the newly designed Lollipop™, a rotating and lockable adapter ring, and either an ultra compact 16” x 22” Westcott Silver Soft Box or the award-winning Bruce Dorn Select Asymmetrical Stripbank. Easy to transport and quick to rig, this combo produces studio-quality light in a package small enough to carry in a gadget bag. Bruce Dorn says, “Free your speedlite from the confines of the camera’s hotshoe, add some serious light modifiers, and suddenly discover a world of truly beautiful lighting!” MAP $229.90.
