Adorama has released a new Steadicam-style video camera stabilizer under its Flashpoint in-house brand. The Flashpoint ZeroGrav appears to be a close reproduction of the Glidecam HD-2000, which is about the right build for HDSLR rigs. Notably, the ZeroGrav has a bigger load range of 2.2-11lbs capacity, while the Glidecam HD-2000 is rated 2-6lbs.
I’m a big fan of the Glidecam rigs and I own the older Glidecam 2000 Pro. I find the lower-end rigs from Glidecam easier to pick up and start operating than the Steadicam Merlin units, which seem to have a higher learning curve.
Adorama has really been busy building out the Flashpoint line of HDSLR accessories lately. If the Flashpoint ZeroGrav performs on par with the Glidecam rigs, this looks to be a nice deal at only a $300 price tag (the Glidecam HD-2000 runs $479).
You can find the Flashpoint ZeroGrav here at Adorama. Also available is a full vest for the ZeroGrav unit.
