Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 Zoom follows last year’s Galaxy Camera as a full-on smartphone with a real compact camera lens. The phone is a variant of the new flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone that is going toe-to-toe with the iPhone 5 and other top-notch Anroid phones. However, Samsung is hoping to set itself apart with the first smartphone to feature a built-in 10x zoom lens (24-240mm equivalent).
The Galaxy S4 Zoom features a 16MP CMOS sensor (1.9MP on the front camera), optical image stabilization and a Xenon flash. Sensitivity ranges from ISO 100-3200 and it is capable of 4fps shooting speed with AF. It features a SMART Mode and Expert Mode (P/S/M/C) and can take advantage of Android apps for social sharing on the go.
HD video capture gives you full 1080/30p, and a microSD card slot gives you up to 64GB of removable storage. The 10x zoom lens features a variable aperture of f/3.1-6.3, so you’ll need some light at the long end.
The Galaxy S4 Zoom runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 and sports a large, 4.3-inch sAMOLED display. It is LTE-capable and features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor.
