Sigma’s 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Lens is Insanely Sharp

July 23, 2013 By Eric Reagan

Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM

DxO Labs recently put the new Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 lens to the DxO Mark test. The results?

Sigma vs Canon Lens

It’s the sharpest APS-C lens ever tested, and it rivals the wide open sharpness of the new Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM lens (and that’s when the Canon lens is tested on the full frame 1Ds Mark III), and of course, the Sigma is more than a full stop brighter at wide open than the Canon.

When you compare the lenses on the same Canon 700D body, the Sigma scores much higher.

Sigma vs Canon Lens 2

All early reports of the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM seem to point in one direction – it’s a killer lens. And better yet, it’s a killer price at $799.
