Sony Adds 30x Zoom and APS-C Models to Lens-Style Mobile Camera Line

September 3, 2014 By Eric Reagan

Sony QX1

Today, Sony introduced two new models to its smartphone clip-on line of camera lens attachments – the QX30 and QX1.

The QX1 really takes things up a notch as a full on E-mount camera that sports a 20.1MP APS-C sensor. The QX1 attaches to a smartphone just like the other QX models; however, the difference is that it allows you to mount any E-mount lens to your cellphone.

Of course, you’ll need to have E-mount lenses on hand or purchase some alongside the new QX1 in order for it to be useful.

The QX1 also captures 1080p video and captures RAW images with a sensitivity range up to ISO 16,000. The QX1 retails for $398. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

Sony QX30

Alongside the QX1, Sony also unveiled the QX30, which features a 20.4MP compact camera sensor and a 30x optical zoom lens (24-750mm equivalent). The QX30 captures 1080p video at 30fps or 60fps.

The QX30 retails for $348. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
