Westcott has released a new convertible light modifier – the Omega Relector. On the surface it looks like a normal 5-in-1; however, a rectangular section is removable from the middle of the reflector, which creates a variety of lighting possibilities.
The Omega Reflector is a nice, large size, measuring 38″ x 45″ in a collapsible frame. Using it with a single strobe, you can get a soft ring light effect and a backlight, as seen in the top photo. You can mix it up with any of the standard 5-in-1 options, from shoot-through/diffuse, to white, gold, or silver reflectors.
You can also use it as a basic shoot-through reflector in natural light for a very high-end look but a very inexpensive and low-tech setup. I think a lot wedding and portrait photographers will be jumping all over this thing.
The Omega Reflector runs a very reasonable $99.90. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
