Check out this video from Jay P. Morgan of The Slanted Lens for a quick little tutorial on how to photograph Christmas lights. To highlight the key tips:

  • Time of day and the sky in the background are important. Shoot around dusk.
  • Use a tripod
  • Don’t use flash. Ambient light only.
  • Camera settings
    • Shoot RAW
    • White balance preset to Tungsten or Daylight depending on the “look” you want
    • ISO 620, F/5.0 and 1/8s as a starting point for exposure

    Great video as always….

But How about a “Merry Christmas” along with a happy Holidays while wearing the Santa suit?
It is Christmas time, those are Christmas lights!

    Merry Christmas…
