Nikon D7200 Specs Surface?

December 16, 2014 By Eric Reagan

Nikon-D7200-Rumors

New rumorsĀ about the Nikon D7200 suggest that it will feature a new 24MP APS-C sensor, along with several other upgrades over the D7100.

Nikon D7200 Rumored Specs

  • New 24MP APS-C sensor
  • Nikon D750 styled body with a tilting screen
  • Expeed 4 processor
  • MultiCAM 3500DX2 autofocus system
  • 51 AF points
  • Built-in Wi-Fi
  • 6fps
  • Buffer: 16 RAW+JPG
  • Video: 1080p @60 and 720p @120 (not sure about 4k)
  • Video aperture will be adjustable during live view
  • Expected announcement in the first few months of 2015

While the D7200 specs above look very similar to the still photography specs of the D7100 (51-point AF, 6fps and 24MP), the processor and video upgrades are not trivial – particularly if Nikon fixes the frustrating aperture adjustment issue during live view.

After waiting forever for a D300s replacement i gave in and have just bought a D7100, on special offer at $250 off. I did wonder whether a replacement might be coming soon because of the discount. I was quite relieved to see that most of the upgrades are features i never use … Live View, Video, Tilting Screen, etc. . Lovely camera and so much better than my D90.

I did the same, and the D7100 is quite a nice camera. Feels toyish after handling my D800, but the images are first rate!

There was a rumor awhile back for a D9300 which might be the long waited D400 upgrade but how long to wait for that one?
Or maybe Nikon wants the D7200 and later line to be the highest DX cameras based on consumer economics on what sells best overall. Anyone’s guess?
Upgraders would consider D610 or D750 is possibly what Nikon is thinking.
Myself, still hoping for a D400 like pro body with latest tech and maybe newer high optics DX lenses coming up. The best reason to use DX is to use overall lighter body and smaller lighter high optics DX Lenses which Fuji has the right idea. Or is Nikon keeping this idea for the next version of mirrorless in hopefully apsc this time? Their Nikon 1 was not as successful as they hoped. Time for mirrorless apsc with high performance.
