Sony Shows 6 Upcoming Full Frame Lenses at CES 2015

January 11, 2015 By Eric Reagan

Sony FE Lenses CES 2015-7

Sony had six new full frame lenses under glass at CES 2015, all of which will pair nicely with the Sony A7 series cameras. The new lenses includes the following:

  • Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA
  • FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS
  • FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS
  • FE 28mm f/2
  • FE Ultra Wide Converter
  • FE Fisheye Converter

This lenses will push Sony further toward its quoted number of 64 first-party lenses available by next spring. Check out some closer shots of each of the new lenses below.

As you can see, they had the labels wrong for the ultra wide and fisheye converters; however, you can see the proper designation on the actual lens barrel.

I am a Sony Alpha user and am interested in any and all Sony Alpha compatible equipment. Please let me know about the status of the new Sony Alpha lenses.

    Thank you,

    JL

Sony was proud that they made the smallest full frame cameras, they used the e mount which is crippled on FF and now they are stuck in making unbalanced and huge lenses to gain good quality optics. I think Sony has to make larger bodies to balance these lenses and this is the one of the main reasons why DSLRs is the first professional choice for many years to come.

You forgot to mention FE in the title.
I can’t use ANY of these on my Sony Full Frame A900
So this news is less than useful to me.

Where is Sony at with a GOOD Flash unit? I’m on the boarder of purchasing the: Sony A7II. Based on all I’ve read there seems to be a big issue with Sony flashes “over heating”. Following Pro Photographers Jason Lanier & Gary Fong on YouTube they are both Big advocates for the Sony A line of Full Frame Cameras but haven’t addressed this issue or the issue of “Battery Length”. Seems logical to add the battery pack to hold 2 at a time or carry a bunch of batteries to still keep size & weight down.

I’ve been a lifelong Canon man of at least 25 years & currently shooting the: 5D Mark III.

Any thought or help on these 2 subjects please.

Are any of these new lenses compatible with the Sony a6000?

Yes. All four are compatible with the A6000. The field of view will be affected by the 1.5x crop factor of the A6000 though. So the 90mm lens will appear as a 135mm when mounted on the A6000.

Yes! Awesome! I was looking at the 90mm!
