Olloclip has been around for a couple of years now and has done a good job of delivering nice photography accessories for smartphones – the iPhone in particular. It has had a couple iterations of its Quick-Flip case that allows you to use a case and your Olloclip lenses with your iPhone.
In general, moving parts on cases suck. And that was the biggest problem with the Quick-Flip case – you had to flip the corner of the case up in order to slide your Olloclip lens over the iPhone’s camera lens.
That problem appears to be solved now with the Olloclip’s upcoming case of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The case allows you to use the standard Olloclip 4-in-1 lens with your iPhone and without having to do anything different than you ordinarily do when using the 4-in-1 lens. Just slide it onto the iPhone’s camera lens and it works.
The new case is due out in March and should run $35 or less. There’s been no official announcement yet; however, they were previewing the new case at a press event during CES so I had the chance to check it out up close.
I’m definitely a bigger fan of this than I was of the Quick-Flip case. The new case is much less clunky and looks/feels like a normal case. For now, it will only be available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. I’ll pass along more details once they make an official announcement.
