Alongside the updated URSA 4.6K camera unveiled this week at NAB 2015, Blackmagic also introduced the URSA Mini in 4K and 4.6K options with an EF or PL mounts.
The URSA Mini is essentially a scaled down version of the much larger URSA. Rather than the 10-inch fold-out display on the URSA, the URSA Mini has 5″ fold-out display at 1920 x 1080 resolution and that is the only display on the URSA Mini (recall the URSA has three total displays).
The form-factor is more appropriate for shoulder mount operation and the camera accepts the new URSA Viewfinder that was also announced this week.
It has built-in dual CFast card slots for recording 12-bit RAW CinemaDNG files, as well as and ProRes 4444 XQ, ProRes 4444, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT, ProRes 422 Proxy recording at Ultra HD and HD resolutions.
Connection points on the URSA Mini include dual XLR audio inputs with phantom power, 12G-SDI output for monitoring with camera status graphic overlay and separate XLR 4 pin power output for viewfinder power, headphone jack, LANC remote control and standard 4 pin 12V DC power connection.
The included side handle attaches via a standard rosette on the right side of the camera and can be removed to mount on extended grips or other mounting options.
The camera has a number of ¼” mounting points on the top and bottom for mounting a variety of accessories. The optional URSA Mini Shoulder Kit includes a shoulder pad with built-in quick release tripod mount and a top handle.
The URSA Mini starts at $2,995 for the 4K EF mount option, while the 4.6K EF mount option runs $4,995. Check out all of the options and a more detailed look at the features and specifications here at B&H Photo.
