Watch the First 8K Footage on YouTube

June 9, 2015 By Eric Reagan

8K YouTube Video

4K hasn’t quite yet caught hold for consumers. But that didn’t stop Neumann Films from putting out the first 8K footage on YouTube, Ghost Towns in 8K. You can watch it below.

The shots were captured with the RED Epic Dragon 6K in portrait orientation and then stitched together in After Effects. Some shots were simply scaled up by 125% from 6.1K to meet the 7.6K standard.

You can click the settings wheel in the bottom-right corner to access the resolution options. You may need to head over to YouTube to watch 8K if you don’t see the option available in this embedded video. You’re going to chew through some data if you try 8K, so don’t try this on your mobile network.
