Alongside a pair of super telephoto lenses, Nikon announced its new AF-S DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens for DX format cameras like the Nikon D7200.
The new 16-80mm zoom serves as an all-purpose lens and as the DX version of the 24-120mm zoom lens that’s popular with the full frame cameras. It is the first lens to feature Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat, which reduces ghosting and flare. Additionally, the front and rear elements also integrate a fluorine coating to make it easier to remove dirt, moisture and smudges from the lens surface.
Nikon also points out that this is “the first Nikon DX lens to feature an electromagnetic diaphragm; this innovation electronically adjusts the aperture within the lens, resulting in consistent exposure during high speed shooting.”
The 16-80mm zoom features four Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) elements and three aspheric elements. It is built with 17 elements in 13 groups and features a seven-blade diaphragm for a circular bokeh.
The new Nikon AF-S DX 16-80mm f/2.8-4E ED VR lens retails for $1070 and should be available later this month. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
