Video: Nikon F3H at 14fps vs. Nikon D3 at 12fps

Check out this video that shows off the old-school Nikon F3H cranking out 14fps of film frames compared to the more modern Nikon D3 at 12fps. Note that the new Nikon D5 also shoots at up to 12fps and the Canon 1D X Mark II will shoot up to 14fps (or as high as 16fps in Live View).

    I didn’t know Nikon made a F3P. I had a couple of F3HP ( High Eye-port ) Don’t miss film at all..

Wouldl the F3P have the same 14fps speed if it is loaded with film?

I mean F3H, but can’t find the “edit” button.

No… I cant remember what they did. So long ago now. I went F3HP , then got a couple of Nikon F4S which I converted ( different base) to F4E, then 2 off F5. Still have them. In fact, I found them recently and they probably have KR64 in them.
      With digital, I had a D2H ( sold it,) Still have a D2Xs, a D3 and a D3S.
I wasn’t interested in the D4 series because of the stupid card system, but, the D5 does interest me. Initially I didn’t like the idea of XQD cards, but, now that prices are becoming sensible, its probably the way to go. I never bent any pins with CF, but, having a camera without the pins is better. All I need to do is find lots of cash. :-)

    Sounds like a sewing machine.

Full frame cameras haven’t changed much over the decades. Built like a tank, but large and heavy and function the same way.

They have. Check out Sony’s A7 series.

        I meant SLR.

Haven’t you ever seen an Olympus OM SLR? Very, very small — the SLR equivalent of a Leica.

I’m not sure I see the point. Both are noisy (with the film body having more annoying high-frequency components).

As most of the noise comes from the mirror flapping, the //only// valid comparison would be a camera that can work in mirror or live-view mode. Right?

“Full frame cameras haven’t changed much over the decades. Built like a tank, but large and heavy and function the same way.”

Yoshihisha Maitani’s feelings would be hurt.

      Whoops. It’s Yoshihisa. Sorry.

This post will help me make a buying decision relatively soon … thanks for the side by side comparison!
