Canon 5D Mark II Review at What Digital Camera

January 30, 2009 By Eric Reagan

What Digital Camera? had published a review of the Canon 5D Mark II.

Canon users may now have the resolution of the 1Ds Mark III in a smaller and much cheaper body, but it’s clear that the similarities end there. Rather than being a straightforward derivative of its pro sibling, the 5D Mark II has its predecessor as its template, but with its 50D sibling as a strong influence.

Canon PowerShot G10 Review at CrunchGear

January 30, 2009 By Eric Reagan

CrunchGear has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot G10.

On the whole, however, I would recommend this camera for the amateur who wants to take some serious outdoor or posed/still shots.

Olympus E-520 Review at Imaging Resource

January 30, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Imaging Resource has published its review of the Olympus E-520.

The E-520 faces stiff competition in the increasingly-ubiquitous sub-$700 digital SLR category, and although it possesses a number of enticing elements, it lacks key differentiators to elevate it significantly above its rivals.

You can read more about the new camera on Photography Bay’s Olympus E-520 page.

Sony A900 Review at Cnet

January 29, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Cnet has posted a review of the Sony A900.

A good first try at a pro-level camera, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A900 has the high resolution but unfortunately lacks some of the performance and usability you expect from a model in its price range.

Canon PowerShot E1 Review at DP Interface

January 29, 2009 By Eric Reagan

DP Interface has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot E1.

The E1 deserves my recommendation for being a capable point-and-shoot camera which manages to balance price, style, features and image quality.

Olympus E-30 Review at PhotographyBLOG

January 29, 2009 By Eric Reagan

PhotographyBLOG has published its review of the Olympus E-30.

Image quality from the smaller 4/3rds sensor isn’t as good as that from the APS-C competitors, with noise in particular an issue at relatively slow ISO speeds.

Canon PowerShot G10 Technical Article at CPN

January 29, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Canon Professional Network has published a Technical Article for the Canon PowerShot G10.  My favorite (with a wink and a nudge) comment from the article follows:

First off, sensor resolution has been increased from 12.1 to 14.7 megapixels. Before anyone groans, the addition of the latest DIGIC 4 processor has made those pixels genuinely useful and image quality has been upped, even at higher ISO settings.

Olympus FE370 Review at DP Interface

January 29, 2009 By Eric Reagan

DP Interface has posted a review of the Olympus FE370.

No doubt the FE370 produces some pretty decent photos (some competition can do better though) but the camera still compromises other key areas of shooting such as performance and battery life.

Sony A900 Review at PhotographyBLOG

January 27, 2009 By Eric Reagan

PhotographyBLOG has posted a review of the Sony A900.

Its viewfinder is the best you’ll find south of medium format, the build is incredibly robust, the controls are intuitive, with some of them – such as the dedicated Histogram button, the metering mode knob or the well-implemented rear joystick – being close to pure genius.

Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review at Trusted Reviews

January 26, 2009 By Eric Reagan

Trusted Reviews has published a review of the Canon PowerShot SX10 IS.

The PowerShot SX10 IS is an expensive and quite complex camera, and not really suited for the beginner, however in capable hands it is capable of producing excellent results, and has enough creative versatility to do so in a wide range of situations.

For additional info, see Photography Bay’s Canon SX10 IS Reviews and Resources.
