The Samsung SL630 is a 12.2MP point and shoot camera that features a 5x optical zoom lens with image stabilization. The SL630 has a 2.7-inch LCD screen and can capture VGA video at 30 fps.

While at CES 2010, I had the opportunity to handle the new 14.6MP Samsung NX10. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any image samples from the camera because it was a pre-production model. The good news about the camera though, is that it was mostly functional and gave a good idea of what to expect from the NX10 that we’ll soon see on store shelves. [Read more…]
Samsung has officially announced the NX10, which is a 14.6-megapixel hybrid, interchangeable lens camera and uses an APS-C format CMOS sensor. The Samsung NX10 features a 3-inch AMOLED screen, HD video capture at a resolution of 720p, sensitivity range of ISO 100-3200, and a built-in electronic viewfinder.
The lens mount is new and proprietary to the NX series. At launch, there will be 3 NX lenses available for the new Samsung NX10: a 30mm pancake lens, an 18-55mm normal zoom lens, and a 50-200mm telephoto zoom lens.
No word yet on price, but the Samsung NX10 should be available in Spring 2010. Check availability at Amazon.com.

More word from Korea on the release of the Samsung NX10. The short version is that it should be announced in August and released in November. A DPR forum poster translated a bit of the info from a SLR Club:
I went to the exhibition today (July 14).
I heard from Samsung Imaging representative today that NX-10 will be available to customers on November. NX-10 displayed on July 7 is pre-production model and is not completed one.

Also, he mentioned new compact camera, and it will be a camera could only exist in your imagination. He said it is a camera might be seen in SF movies. It is totally different from existing compact digital cameras. He said it has 2 parts while normal compact cameras usually have only 1, but he didn’t say no more what it is. (Obviously, it is classified.)
NX and new digital camera will be announced around August.

It appears that the first Samsung NX Series camera will be dubbed the Samsung NX3 and may be slated for official announcement on July 7, 2009 according to a forum poster at OLED.at. Interestingly, the rumored specs, posted below, include an HD AMOLED display. The Samsung NV24HD and TL320 have a AMOLED display of 420K. If this new NX Samsung camera come with that AMOLED (720) will be the first AMOLED with high resolution on a digital camera. (Thanks Pete.) This would be a first in the digital camera world. Overall, the Samsung GX-20 is well-priced and well-put-together. It is an attractive, solid unit, both in terms of its build as well as its performance, and it is unlikely to disappoint. Highly recommended.

At the point and shoot level there are more reliable alternatives for its price and headline specification. However, the Samsung NV24HD’s more esoteric features – including the funky photo styles, placed right at the fore of its operation – are indeed fun and less run-of-the-mill than many, meaning it feels churlish to bash this model with too large a stick.

The NV40 remains a premium-level product that is both well made and well thought out, with the unique smart touch interface that makes the camera easy to understand and navigate, but ultimately the image quality and high price-tag of £199 / $280 let the Samsung NV40 down.
