A new rumor is surfacing regarding a follow up to the Pentax K20D. A Chinese forum, DCHome.net, reveals some specs for what could be the next Pentax DSLR. The initial rumored specs for the Pentax K30D are as follows:
- CMOS APS-H (1.3x crop) sensor (not APS-C – 1.5x)
- 14megapixels
- improved AF speed
- better ISO control
- 3.5fps at 14mp
- 6.5fps at 6mp
- new AF assist
Also in the rumor mill is a Pentax K300D with a new CMOS sensor developed in conjunction with Samsung.
Seby says
isn’t K10D 1.5x already? I suppose K20D is the same.

YYYYYYYYYYYes I’m waiting….:
me says
CMOS APS-H (1.3x crop) sensor (not APS-C – 1.5x)- not going to happen as this would require an entirely new lines of lenses to complement the DA series. Only the FA series would work with the 1.3x larger sensor. Pentax would have to split their resources across the 1.3x and 1.5x crop factor and that would not be good for either (duplicating the DA line for the 1.3x). Thus, Pentax will stick with the 1.5x crop APS-C sensor and bring out additional lenses in the telephoto and wide angle range to further enhance and support this sensor size.
Otherwise the rest of the predictions appear to be possible.
