Just as I feared, crappy screen size and resolution (compared to Canon 500D) to accommodate useless and break prone swivel mechanism. Canon 500D is also lighter, smaller and has better HD video (30fps against 24fps, max 30 min against max 5 min). The only thing I see for Nikon is continuous 4 fps against Canon’s 3.4fps. Looks like I’m going with Canon 500D.

It’s arguable whether 30fps is better than 24fps. A lot of people assume that, since they grew up watching films that were projected at 24fps in theaters, that watching the same framerate on an LCD screen is more “cinematic” than 30fps. The Nikon is just another choice for people with different priorities, that’s all.
