Sony CLM-V55 External Monitor for Alpha DSLRs

January 10, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Sony had a new external video monitor on display at CES 2011.  The new 5-inch CLM-V55 monitor connects via HDMI inputs and will produce a live view from the camera’s sensor thanks to a coming firmware update for the A55, A33, A580 and A560 Alpha cameras.

As you can see, the monitor also provides a headphone-out jack, which will allow you to monitor the camera’s audio pickup while recording video.  A dedicated hot shoe mount and sun shade further accessorize this new tool.

The CLM-V55 external display should be available in February 2011 at an initial retail price of $399.
