Canon Camera Distribution Unaffected by Thailand Floods

November 23, 2011 By Eric Reagan

Canon 60D

A Canon Thailand executive recently reaffirmed that Canon’s digital camera distribution was not affected by the Thailand floods, which unfortunately have caused a great deal of trouble for Nikon.

Canon has no camera manufacturing facilities in Thailand.  While Canon has camera storage and distribution facilities in Thailand, those are not located in the areas affected by the flooding.

The Canon exec noted further that Canon SLR sales have increased 70% over last year, and that Canon has a 60% camera market share this year.  It is unclear from the article whether he is citing localized or global growth and share.
