New rumors suggest a Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is in the works with an announcement coming soon for the Canon EOS M line. Of course, there are rumors of a new EOS M model coming soon as well – as early as this summer.
An 11-22mm lens makes sense as an APS-C lens for the EOS M system. It would provide a full frame equivalent coverage of roughly 18-35mm. As an f/4-5.6 variable aperture lens, it would be rather compact, which also makes sense for the compact EOS M body – as opposed to the larger glass requirements required for a mirrorless system clone of the EF 16-35mm f/2.8, the EF 17-40mm f/4L or even the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 lenses.
