Previously, several rumors indicated that the Canon 7D Mark II would not make an appearance until 2014. The latest sources from Canon Rumors backs up these rumors – specifically that there is no chance the 7D Mark II will arrive in 2013, and the camera will arrive in the second half of 2014.
If the 7D Mark II doesn’t appear until then, that will make for a 5 year life span on the original Canon 7D that was announced in September 2009.
While the spec list isn’t fully complete, the consensus seems to be that it will feature the same 20.2MP CMOS sensor found in the Canon 70D, along with the Dual Pixel AF for fast video autofocus and built-in GPS. Previously rumored specifications suggested a 24.1MP APS-C sensor and 10fps image capture rate.
