Leica has taken official wraps off its new mirrorless camera and system – the Leica T. The new camera, going by the official model name Leica T (Type 701), features a 16.5MP APS-C sensor and captures JPG and DNG raw still image files. Additionally, the camera captures 1080/30p HD video and includes 16GB of internal memory, which and be expanded via SDXC cards. The Leica T camera also includes built-in WiFi for connection to iOS or Android devices using the Leica T app.

Alongside the new camera, Leica is releasing two new lenses for the T-system: the Leica Vario-Elmar-T 18-56 mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH and the Leica Summicron-T 23 mm f/2 ASPH. Addtionally, Leica has plans to soon release an 11-23mm f/3.5-4.5 wide angle zoom and a 55-135m f/3.5-4.5 telephoto zoom as well.
A new Leica SF 26 flash will also be available at launch. It serves a dual role as a continuous LED light for use when shooting video.
The Leica T camera, lenses and accessories will be available beginning on May 26. The camera ships with a full license for Adobe Lightroom 5. The camera body retails for $1850. The 16-56mm and 23mm lenses retail for $1750 and $1955, respectively. Check them all out here at B&H Photo.
