Canon Developing New 800mm f/5.6L IS II Lens?

August 20, 2014 By Eric Reagan

Canon 800mm Version I

New rumors point to the possibility of a “development” announcement at Photokina 2014 regarding a replacement for the behemoth Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens.

It has been six years since the current model was announced, so this isn’t too far fetched. Additionally, if the development of the lens was announced, it could still be a year or two before we see the actual product if recent Canon super telephoto lens availability time frames are anything to measure by.

If an announcement comes, it would be likely to happen alongside the rumored September 5 announcement for the Canon 7D Mark II.

What they really need is to offer a payment plan for the lens. Maybe 20-years at 2.9%?

    LOL.
