LaCie recently revealed its new d2 Thunderbolt 2 external drive, which features dual Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0 connections.
The drive ships with a 3TB, 4TB or 6TB 7200 RPM Seagate professional drive, which provides up to 220MB/s data rates. However, it can also be upgraded to the LaCie d2 SSD by the user for speeds up to 1150MB/s.
The LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 2 runs $299 (3TB), $399 (4TB) or $499 (6TB). The LaCie d2 SSD in 128GB capacity will be available in October for $299. Check out all of the options here at B&H Photo.

Not quite the prices I was expecting… better actually. I still find it odd that Thunderbolt external storage devices haven’t really caught like I thought they would. But with prices as they have been, who would purchase any other than professionals.
