New rumors suggest that Fuji may release the long-awaited X-Pro2 in early 2015. The X-Pro2 was previously rumored to be a full frame camera; however, recent info direct from Fuji denies that it will move to full frame and further commits that Fuji will stick with the APS-C format in the foreseeable future for its popular X-Series line of mirrorless cameras.
Accordingly, we could see the Fuji X-Pro2 as early as CES 2015. Recall that the X-Pro1 was announced at CES 2012, which means we are approaching the three year anniversary for the X-Series flagship.
While the X-Pro1 is officially considered the flagship model, the latest model – the Fuji X-T1 – has become the defacto flagship thanks to advances in image quality and overall refinements in functionality as a mirrorless camera. Accordingly, the X-Pro2 should really deliver some “wow” when it is finally unveiled to take the reigns back as the head honcho in the X-Series line-up.
