Manfrotto has announced its MHXPRO-2W fluid head, a 2-way head with fluidity selector for swapping between photo and video applications.
The XPRO head uses the Manfrotto 200PL quick release plate and includes a fluidity selector that allows you to switch between hard fluidity for slow tilt movements and soft fluidity for fast tilts when in photo mode.
The head weighs 1.54 lbs. and can support up to an 8.8 lb load. The new MHXPRO-2W head retails for $149.99 and is available now. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

In theory I like this idea, but I’m not sure if it’s really doing one thing better than the other. The price is about the same as the MVH500AH. For someone who is doing a little bit of both and has a decent tripod, this is may be a good solution.
But I think maybe would be better off getting the MVH500AH with an adjustable base to stick on a set of photo sticks? That would offer a bit more versatility at least… the RC2 plate is great for people already invested in those, but this makes life difficult for the Manfrotto video folks and the people that adapt for Arca.
