Along with its new Rugged RAID 4TB Thunderbolt drive, LaCie announced the its less-practical LaCie Mirror portable external drive at CES 2015.
The LaCie Mirror is encased in Gorilla Glass and offers a mirror reflection for those wanting a stylish case for their portable hard drive. It is only available in a 1TB size and connects via USB 3.0.
It is bus powered and houses a single 2.5″ 1TB drive inside so your data read and write speeds will be limited to the 115MB/s to 130MB/s range most likely. (I couldn’t find stated specs for the new drive so I’m just going off of prior experience with external USB 3.0 spinning drives.)
It ships with well-presented packaging and comes with a wooden stand for displaying the drive on your desktop. the LaCie Mirror portable drive runs $279.99 and should be available late January. More details available here on LaCie’s website.
I had read somewhere the idea was the drive, being full of photos, is a reflection of yourself, as are your photos.
Very touching…
If this philosophy of design is true I think I’d rather have an external hard drive that also doubles as a digital picture frame. And if I knew a thing about building stuff I’d be working on right now.
