What I am waiting for (or if anyone could suggest) is a 4k simple point and shoot camcorder that records at 60p.
My girlfriend records my football games and then i edit them and put them on YouTube for people to view, i need 60p to do 1/4 speed slow mos with some degree of smoothness and 4k would let me zoom in of certain areas without losing too much quality when viewed at fullHD.
The Panasonic HC-X1000 is way over the top for what i need and i have also only read mediocre reviews about it. I want 60p in a Panasonic HC-WX870 or Sony FDR-AX100, if the electronics for 4K at 30p can fit into a tiny GoPro then there is no reason this can’t be done.
I guess i will simply have to wait for next years releases and hope 60p is the addition that helps to separate them from the previous year. H.265 should also be wide spread then so data rates shouldn’t be an issue.

Samsung has put out the NX1. 4k video at H.265. $1500. Not sure if it’s 60p.

Yeah I do really like that camera but sadly it’s 30p plus using a camera body as a camcorder for prolonged amount of time gets a little awkward, the battery often struggles and it’s not easy to zoom smoothly and focus quickly. Basically it’s designed to be a great camera and be able to take good video clips. I really need a camcorder.

Depending on price point, you won’t see 60p 4k anytime soon (at least under $2-3K). I’m thinking the first to offer it below $2K will be the Panasonic GH5, which is probably more than a year out, alternatively a next gen Sony/Panasonic camcorder, likely not before 2016 either.

Sadly I think you’re right, I’m not even 100% convinced we will see 4k60p in the high end main stream next year either. Manufacturers are usually so show at moving things along so they can milk every last penny out of every feature first.
It’s such a shame the X1000 seemed to get such luke warm reviews. It is possibly a little large for what I wanted but it’s a ray of hope that 4k60p is not a million miles away.
