Lensbaby has been teasing a new lens on its Facebook page over the past few days building up to the official launch next week on April 7. Previously, Lensbaby had been rumored to launch a 55mm f/1.6 lens in early April. Now, Lensbaby has confirmed that the lens is an f/1.6 aperture lens. See the three teaser images released thus far below.
Additionally, Lensbaby called the lens “a modern twist on a timeless classic” and has repeatedly teased to reveal more if it gets “50” shares on Facebook posts that tease the lens. Lensbaby also gave the following clue for the image on the right: “look closely because this one contains a hint about the versatility of the new lens.” Earlier rumors also indicated that it would be a macro lens.
More recent teases have sought 100 shares with portions of the lens shown on each subsequent post. Below is a Photoshop franken-composite of the three teased images for an idea of what the final form might look like.
So, is this the rumored 55mm f/1.6 lens or do these teased images suggest it is something else? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
