Facebook has announced a new plan to begin sharing ad revenue with users who post video content directly on Facebook.
The move is similar to what YouTube already does with its YouTube Partners. Ad revenue will be split 55% for the content creator and 45% to Facebook.
The roll out will start with only a few choice content providers at first, including Funny or Die and Fox Sports. The new ad model will reportedly only be visible on mobile at launch. Assuming a successful start to the program, it could be available on all platforms and to independent content creators by the end of the year.
Check out the videos from CNN and Bloomberg for more thoughts on the new Facebook ad share model.

You mean, there’s a slight chance that Facebook will actually have decent video quality someday?
Wonder if that will ever happen with photos?
…sorry, I couldn’t resist.

That may be stretching it. The videos that get millions of views on Facebook aren’t exactly cinematic masterpieces.
I suspect this will only increase the funny cat video uploads. ;)
