Lots of aggression on drones lately. Along with eagles, apparently, fisherman also have a strong distaste for drones. While filming around a pier with his DJI Inspire 1, this guy’s maneuvers caught the attention of one ill-tempered fisherman.
The fisherman then cast his line toward the drone and hooked it on the first cast. Fortunately for the operator, the fisherman didn’t bring down his $2900 drone but it was surely a scary few moments bringing the drone back to shore.
You can see one of the finished shots he was after in the below video.

I’ve flown remote control aircraft since the 1980’s. And even today, it is required (by insurance) to be flown at a safe remote location and ideally be a member of a flying club that has a dedicated space and its own insurance. It is for safety and to not distract/annoy neighbors/people. Since the release of easy to fly remote control aircraft have come out, the reputation of the hobby has taken beating. It is the flying the aircraft in public places where there isn’t the safety (of the people) or the annoyance factor being taken into consideration. I’ve been a member of clubs that have lost their flying field (which existed for many years with much $$ invested) due to ONE neighbor complaining … so the club had to leave and find a new home. Seeing something like this isn’t surprising to those that have been in the hobby for decades.
