Can I get a show of hands of those who print black and white, draft quality documents in order to save printer ink?
Epson has an All-in-One printer with an ink supply that lasts 2 years before you need to buy more – the Epson WorkForce ET-4550 EcoTank printer.
The printer ships with enough ink to print up to 11,000 black pages or 8,500 color pages. Epson says this is equivalent to about 50 ink cartridge sets from a traditional ink jet printer.
Where’s my photo printer with a 2-year ink supply?
While the ET-4550 will print on a variety of photo papers, you are limited to the 4-color cartridge system (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) – as compared to the 9-ink system of more advanced photo printers like the Epson SureColor P600.
Still, for a home office or small office, the Epson ET-4550 should be near the top of the list for consideration with its ability to greatly reduce a universal pain point for printing.
The four ink colors come with massive refillable EcoTank ink bottles. The black in refill bottle yields 6,000 pages at just $19.49. The CMY bottles each run only $12.99 and yield 6,500 pages.
Epson just received a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree recognition for this new EcoTank printer. And by everything I’ve seen about it, I think that’s well deserved.
Still, I’m ready for an EcoTank system in my photo printer…
