Yuneec’s Typhoon quadcopters are sold with a camera and gimbal attached to the drone; however, a handle is also included in the kits for removing the camera and gimbal from the drone and operating it handheld.
Now, you can get a dedicated handheld unit on its own in the Typhoon ActionCam and it delivers direct competition to the new DJI Osmo.
The ActionCam comes with a 3-axis gimbal and ultra-HD 4K camera, and offers 90 minutes of run time. Additional features include 12 megapixel still images, 1080p/120fps slow motion video, 115-degree field of vision, and a no-distortion lens.
The Typhoon ActionCam displays real-time footage from a mobile device of up to 6.4 inches, and is controlled by the CGO3 smartphone app. Precise camera angle control is placed where the thumb sits on the handle, and Pitch Follow Mode and Angle Mode offer the ability to shoot with different stabilization options.
- Pitch Follow Mode – Locks camera in a forward facing position so users can frame shots based on their movement.
- Angle Mode – Enables users to capture stable footage regardless of movement, and produces high-quality, stable video even in the most turbulent circumstances.
The Typhoon ActionCam includes a CGO3 camera, 1400mAh LiPo battery and smart charger for $549.99, which also undercuts the DJI Osmo by $100. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
