I’ve been flying Yuneec’s Q500 Typhoon 4K quadcopter for several months. It is the total package from what you want and expect from a drone for the serious consumer. I’m a huge fan and all-aboard the Yuneec train.
I was introduced to Yuneec in April 2015 at NAB and got the chance to try out the Q500 series last fall. This review is long overdue but the recent price drops across the Typhoon line make them more attractive than ever and have nudged me to spread the word about this great little drone.
The flight and image capture experience is very similar to what you get from a DJI Phantom series drone. The biggest and most important difference for me is the included ST10+ transmitter from Yuneec. [Read more…]
It looks like Yuneec’s quadcopters have taken a significant price drop in addition to the recent drops we saw on DJI Phantom 3 drone prices.
The Yuneec Q500 4K Typhoon is now $999.99 (was $1299.99) and comes complete with the SteadyGrip handheld gimbal and aluminum carry case.
The Yuneec Q500+ Typhoon 1080/60p model is now $699.99 (was $1099.99). It also ships with the SteadyGrip handheld gimbal and aluminum case.
The Yuneec Typhoon G with the GoPro Gimbal is down to $499.99 (was $899.99).
I’m not sure if these are permanent or will expire soon. I’m a big fan of the Yuneec drones because of the added value you get with the full kit over what DJI offers. I’ve had a Q500 4K on deck for review for a while now and really have nothing but praise for it. I’ll get around to that review soon hopefully, but in the mean time, these are some solid deals on great drones.
Yuneec remains below the radar for many; however, the company continues to be on the forefront of many tech advances in the drone industry. The new Yuneec Typhoon H steps up from the quadcopter form we’ve seen from other drones in its size and price range and provides a hexacopter design (i.e., six rotors) with some rather high-end features. Yuneec’s Typhoon quadcopters are sold with a camera and gimbal attached to the drone; however, a handle is also included in the kits for removing the camera and gimbal from the drone and operating it handheld.
Yuneec has announced a new drone for mirrorless cameras and other compact cameras that are a bit larger than GoPro and other small action cameras. The Yuneec Tornado H920 features six rotors and can is compatible with the Panasonic GH4 and Sony A7R II using the 360-degree panorama capable GB603 gimbal. [Read more…]
The drone industry is one of the major emerging gadget markets for in visual media right now (360° video and VR is the other big one). So far, the drone industry has been dominated by DJI, which recently received a $75M investment on what could be a $10B valuation. So yeah, the drone market is huge and is still just getting started.
Earlier this year, we saw 3D Robotics surge into direct competition with DJI when 3DR launched its Solo drone at NAB. On the edge of the radar though, Yuneec Aviation has started catching looks with what appears to be a very mature product line in its Typhoon Q500+ and Q500 4K models. Earlier this week, Yuneec added to the Typhoon line with the GoPro-toting Typhoon G.
To make things even more interesting for a third major player in the drone market, Yuneec received a $60M investment from Intel Capital last week. [Read more…]
