Convergent Design has dropped the price of its Odyssey7Q+ to $1795 (was $2295), which slots it in between the competing Atomos Ninja Assassin and Shogun. At $1795, it arguably offers more value than either Atomos option since the Odyssey7Q+ offers up to ProRes 4444 12-bit recording out of the box and includes a 256GB Convergent Design SSD. It offers 4K capture over both the HDMI and SDI inputs.
Additionally, the Odyssey7Q+ offers the ability to upgrade to RAW recording options with compatible cameras via a paid upgrade from Convergent Design. You can find the Odyssey7Q+ at the new price point here at B&H Photo.

It’ll be interesting to see what they come out with at NAB if dropping the price this early. I know this isn’t going to happen, but I would love to see some of the Apollo functionality (even if for just 2 cameras) added to the Odyssey line.

The Apollo functionality is actually available as a paid upgrade for the 7Q and 7Q+. The price used to be $1795 for the upgrade. Not sure if that’s still the case.

Yep, still offering at $1795 or can rent for $150/day. For anyone that’s interested, it looks like it’s cheaper to buy the 7Q+ and pay for the upgrade vs buying the Apollo directly.

I would love it if they (or Atomos) made a 5″ inch or similar size with the same features. I love using the larger screens but they can be a bit much sometimes…esp. on the smaller cameras. Hopefully something will come around soon enough.
