While AF lenses have been in the rumor mill for a while now for the company, Samyang has finally announced a pair of new AF lenses for Sony full frame E-mount cameras like the A7 II, A7R II and A7S II.
The new lenses are the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC and Samyang 50mm f/1.4 AS IF UMC. The new lenses are compatible with both phase detect and contrast detect sensors found in Sony E-mount cameras.
The new lenses should be available in July 2016. No official word on price yet but they are rumored to be under $600…

Unfortunately, there is still a lack of fast zoom lenses available for Sony E-mount systems. Sony did just release/announce some, but they are not all available yet. Only one of the two “standards” (70-200mm) has image stabilization, while the other (24-70mm) does not. This is one of the reasons there has not been a mass exodus from Canon/Nikon to Sony. Metabones adapters are great, but they are not perfect. Sigma and Tamron have an opportunity to step up and fill this gap, but maybe even they aren’t interested…
