If you recall the Panasonic mystery camera we saw at NAB 2017, the Panasonic EVA1 has turned out to be a real head turner. We now know a little more about the specs of the camera and we have a final price.
Panasonic EVA1 Key Specs

- Records 2K up to 240 fps
- 10-Bit, 4:2:2 Processing

The dual native ISO gives you the option for ISO 800 and ISO 2500, which should offer more flexibility in low light. You get 10-bit 422 in 4K up to 29.97; however, the 4K 59.97 frame rate only gives you 8-bit 420. At its release, the max bit rate available is 150Mbps. A 400Mbps bit rate is planned for a later firmware update but only up to 29.97fps. The EVA1 will deliver 4K 59.97 10-bit RAW output via SDI.
The EVA1 has dual SD card slots and can record to both simultanously or in succession. The mount is Canon EF, which gives you a wide range of DSLR and cinema lens options for the EVA1’s Super 35mm format sensor.
The EVA1 comes in at a price of $7,345, which puts it about where we expected it to be as a competitor to the Sony FS7 MKi and the Canon EOS C200. It’s expected to be available in late October. You can dig into all of the specs and pre-order it here at B&H Photo.
