Sigma just announced the fp mirrorless camera, featuring a full-frame 24.6MP BSI Bayer CMOS sensor and Leica’s L-mount. It is the world’s smallest full frame camera – with the body being just slightly larger than the Sony RX 100 VI pocket camera.
Sigma fp Mirrorless Camera Key Features
- 24.6MP Full-Frame BSI Bayer CMOS Sensor
- Electronic Shutter
- L-Mount Interface
- 49-Point AF System
- UHD 4K30p Video with 12-Bit CinemaDNG
The Sigma fp has no mechanical shutter, relying only on an electronic shutter. There’s also no EVF – only a 3.15″ touchscreen LCD. The fp’s native ISO settings range between 100 and 25600. Enhanced ISO settings offer a sensitivity range from ISO 6-102,400.
No word yet on price or availability for the new Sigma fp. Check it out here at B&H Photo.

I saw this earlier today and wondered about the electronic shutter and how well that will work. It will be interesting to see results when it comes out.

Is total ridiculuos to compare this BODY ONLY camera with ALL IN ONE Sony RX100 IV. Imagine this Sigma fp with a 24-200 2.8 lens.
Eric Reagan says
Yeah. Sorry. I was just pointing out the RX100 for scale. It’s tough to tell exactly how big cameras are sometimes in these press photos….
But, yeah, it’s going to be unbalanced with just about any lens attached.

This does seem rather a pointless exercise. As @Emil mentions, the lenses for full frame cameras far outweigh (pun intended) the body. And that Sigma chose to use a standard filter array rather than a Foveon chip, which would seem it’s only competitive advantage in the DSLR world would seem to imply that the Foveon design cannot be made in the 24x36MM size, at least not at a cost that would be remotely competitive.
