PhotographyBLOG has posted a review of the Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR.
The new EXR mode is as effective in practice as it is revolutionary in principle. The D-Range Priority (DR) mode in particular is literally a real eye-opener, recording much greater dynamic range and preserving more detail in the shadows and highlights than either the F200EXR’s own high-resolution mode, or any other compact camera that we’ve ever reviewed.

Check out the following video for a demonstration of the powerful little Casio EX-FC100 that I captured at PMA of the UNLV Cheerleading Squad, which was performing routines in Casio’s booth area. The cheerleaders proved to be great models to demo the capabilities of the EX-FC100.
The Casio EX-FC100 is the miniature follow-up to the EX-F1 and EX-FH20, which were geared toward a prosumer audience. The EX-FC100, however, is a compact point and shoot camera that packs in the same high speed capture technology as the EX-F1 and EX-FH20 – albeit a slightly reduced frame rate. While Canon’s booth was huge at PMA 2009, the biggest new camera present was actually quite small – the PowerShot SX1 IS. Fortunately, Canon had several pre-production models on display for attendees to fondle handle. The new (for US shooters) 10MP superzoom camera handles almost exactly like the junior-spec’d PowerShot SX10 IS, with the exception of the a slightly larger LCD screen. [Read more…]

For users who’ve been wanting a full-frame SLR, there’s no doubt that the EOS 5D Mark II is a great option. Kudos to Canon for taking a great camera and finding ways to make it better.

The overall level of detail is excellent, and the lens and/or image processing produces almost no distortion even at the 28mm end of the zoom range, with good corner sharpness.

DC Resource has posted a review of the Canon 50D.
The Canon EOS-50D is a very competent midrange digital SLR. It offers very good photo quality (with a quality lens attached), rocket-fast performance, plenty of manual controls and customizable features, and a super-sharp 3-inch LCD.

Canon users may now have the resolution of the 1Ds Mark III in a smaller and much cheaper body, but it’s clear that the similarities end there. Rather than being a straightforward derivative of its pro sibling, the 5D Mark II has its predecessor as its template, but with its 50D sibling as a strong influence.
