Canon Rebel XS / 1000D Firmware Update Version 1.0.6
Canon has released a firmware update for the Rebel XS / 1000D.
Firmware Version 1.0.6 incorporates the following changes.
1. Some cameras may exhibit a phenomenon in which the LCD monitor does not display, the shutter does not release, and the busy indication remains lit in the viewfinder.
2. The message, “Err 99 Shooting is not possible. Turn the power switch to <OFF> and <ON> again or re-install the battery”, appears on the camera’s LCD monitor, and after the above operation is carried out, the LCD monitor displays in a language that is different from the actual language setting.

Pentax Clearance
RitzCamera.com (not the bankrupt brick & mortar stores) is clearing out some Pentax stock. I checked on a few of the prices and it seems like a pretty good deal for those of you Pentax shooters out there.
There are DSLRs (the K20D seems to be discontinued at most retailers), point and shoot cameras, lenses, flashes, batteries, grips, etc. in the clearance. Here’s the link.

PhotoFast CF and SD Cards Review
I have been using a few memory cards from PhotoFast over the past few weeks alongside my usual mix of Lexar, Kingston and SanDisk cards. Specifically, the PhotoFast GMonster 533x 32GB and 533x Plus 16GB CF cards have spent a lot of time in my Canon 5D Mark II and a Nikon D300s that I’ve had on hand. Canon 1D Mark IV – Early 2010 [Rumor]
Rumors of a Canon 1D Mark IV have been floating around since not too long after the criticisms of the autofocus performance for the Canon 1D Mark III came to light. Rumors were swirling prior to the announcement of the Canon 7D that the 1D Mark IV might surface this Fall. Those rumors have since died down.
As I’m sure you are aware though, when one rumor dies, there are plenty more ready to fill in the gaps. The latest rumor is calling for a Canon 1D Mark IV announcement in early 2010 or around the “end of January” as one Canon Rumors tipster puts it. [Read more…]
