Sigma DP1 Review at DPReview

May 20, 2008 By Eric Reagan

DPReview has posted a review of the Sigma DP1.

As you might imagine the DP1 is not great for your typical portrait shoot and it’s not ideal for wildlife or sports photography either but it does a very good job in landcape and (due to its low distortion) architecture photography.

Excellent performance and great image quality combine neatly within in an easy to use body and good price that make the Sony Alpha 350 worthy of serious consideration.

Canon Powershot A580 Review at PhotographyBLOG

May 20, 2008 By Eric Reagan

PhotographyBLOG has published a full review of the new 8 megapixel Canon Powershot A580. The A580 is the little brother to the Image Stabilized A590 IS. The A580 features a 4x optical zoom, the option of fully automatic or semi-automatic settings and 16 selectable shooting modes.

Image quality has also exceeded my expectations in terms of detail, colour accuracy, AWB consistency and centre sharpness. A well-exposed and properly focused ISO 80 shot will produce an excellent 30x40cm print, with ISO 800 still enjoyable at the common 10x15cm size.

Nikon Coolpix P80 Review at ePhotozine

May 18, 2008 By Eric Reagan

ePhotozine has posted a full review of the Nikon Coolpix P80.  The new P80 boasts a 10.1 megapixel image sensor, Nikon’s EXPEED processing and vibration reduction on a whopping 18x optical zoom lens.  The P80’s 18x Zoom-NIKKOR lens covers focal lengths from 27-486mm (35mm format equivalent).

Nikon are really coming up trumps with processor capability. The landscape image has good definition all-round with nice detail in the grass. No fringing is evident on the white steps or on the roof of the building, which I’m really impressed with.

Nikon Coolpix L18 Review at Cameras.co.uk

May 18, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Cameras.co.uk has posted a review of the Nikon Coolpix L18.

The main reason for looking to buy the Coolpix L18 is the fact it is simple and easy to use. Another attraction is the fact you can pick up a camera from a respected brand like Nikon for a relatively low price.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35 Review at PC Mag

May 18, 2008 By Eric Reagan

PC Mag has posted a review of the Panasonic DMC-FX35.

On the plus side, this camera has the rare ability to record HD-quality (1,280-by-720) movies at 30 or 15 frames per second. Video quality is good, too: At an aspect ratio of 16:9, there was little blurriness or shake, and playback was smooth.

Sony W150 Review at Steve’s Digicams

May 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Steve’s Digicams has posted a review of the Sony DSC-W150.

Bottom line – the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W150 is a well rounded ultra-compact digicam. With loads of useful exposure modes and in-camera editing options, the W150 can be used and enjoyed by everyone, whether at home or the office.

Canon PowerShot SD890 IS Review at Cnet

May 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Cnet has posted a review of the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS.  The new SD890 IS features a 10 megapixel sensor, a 2.5″ LCD panel and a 5x optical zoom (a 35mm equivalent of 37-185mm). The SD890 IS also features a macro mode that allows close focusing at a distance of less than one inch.  Cnet said:

A solid compact snapshooter, the Canon PowerShot SD890 IS nevertheless disappoints when compared with its predecessors and line-mates.

Olympus E-3 Review at Camera Labs

May 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Camera Labs has posted a full review of the Olympus E-3 DSLR.

The viewfinder and AF are two usual scapegoats, but with the E-3, Olympus has significantly improved both. The tunnel-vision of earlier Four Thirds viewfinders has been upgraded to a large and bright experience that inspires you to use the 4:3 aspect ratio. The older basic 3-point AF system has been replaced by a new 11-point system which with the right lens and conditions can perform extremely quickly.

Canon Powershot SD770 IS Review at Steve’s Digicams

May 17, 2008 By Eric Reagan

Steve’s Digicams has posted a review of the Canon Powershot SD770 IS.  The SD770 IS features 10 megapixels and an ultra-thin design.  The SD770 IS also has a 3x optical zoom, which equates to a 35-105mm zoom range on a 35mm camera.  The 2.5″ PureColor LCD II screen and an optical viewfinder make acquiring the image subject easier on the photographer’s eyes.

The Canon Powershot SD770 IS Digital ELPH is everything that you would expect from this line, especially if you have had any experience with them before.
