Nikon just can’t catch a break on the faulty shutter problem in the D750 that has gone on and on and on. Now, Nikon is telling us that there are even more affected D750 models, which continued to be an issue long after the initial problem was discovered and believed to be fixed.

Last summer, Nikon issued a service advisory for the D750 as a result of a shutter malfunction that it said only some units manufactured between October and November 2014. Now, Nikon is updating that service advisory for cameras manufactured through June 2015, which was just before it issued the original service advisory.
In the updated service advisory, Nikon apologizes for the problem and provides instructions and a tool to check your serial number to see if it is an affected camera. If so, you can send your D750 into Nikon for free inspection and repair to correct the issue even if the warranty has expired.
Nikon has been raked over the coals for problems with its professional DSLRs that end up requiring repair or replacement. Obviously, this does not help Nikon’s image and the company really needs to come out of the gate strong with the new D500 and D5 with no weird malfunctions.

Nikon can’t seem to catch a break. After the super-embarrassing D600 dust issue was so bad that Nikon actually had to make a new camera model, the new Nikon D750 has been pulled from shelves as Nikon works to fix a problem and replenish stock. [Read more…]

Nikon has finally issued a service advisory for the Nikon D600 with regard to the dust accumulation on the sensor. Those hoping for a fix for the abnormal amount of dust and debris on the D600 sensor, however, will be disappointed to learn that Nikon essentially says that this is perfectly normal behavior “generally attributed to the natural accumulation of dust.”
The solution?
Have the D600 serviced by a Nikon service center.
