Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Lens Patent

October 26, 2012 By Eric Reagan

Tamron has filed a patent for a 150-600mm f/5-6.3 lens, which would presumably feature Tamron’s Vibration Compensation. The big telephoto zoom lens would be the longest reaching zoom lens in Tamron’s lineup if/when it is released – taking the title from the current sub-$1000 Tamron 200-500mm f/5-6.3, which it would likely replace.

Sigma has a similar lens with its 150-500mm f/5-6.3 OS model priced at just over $1000, which should give us an idea of the price range we might see the Tamron at if to comes to life.  Given that it’s a new model and the extended reach, I’d put the price range somewhere between $1200-$1400 if I were betting on it.
